Perhaps one of the "originals" in the Perfecto Records gang and labeled "The Goth Of Trance" by Mr. Paul Oakenfold. His name is Robert Vadney and you're about to find out more about this Greek-American DJ. As usual we are always on the lookout for the best and freshest talent. Make sure you read about the new radio show with Robert Vadney here on Sense FM, starting November 18, 2008. You don't want to miss this!
BiographyRobert Vadney, Greek-American, born in Greece - on Rhodes island and raised in Greece and the US - by American Dad & Greek Mom, started writing music at the tender age of 12, after accidentally coming across the first computer music software he ever saw..
After seeing what he had inside him & what he could do, he saw things more serious and decided to take it to the next level - learning to play keys, which seeing that even without any knowledge of notes at all, he could play just about anything.. After spending 3 years writing & mixing music from 'Rap' to 'House' to 'Rave' he decided that the way to learn more about his creations, what makes people jump around-crazy & to better himself, would be to DJ in Clubs, to see all the reactions.. But, little did he know that things were not going to be so simple and easy, as for some reason he never fitted anywhere - even as a person..
After trying for sometime, he finally got a chance to DJ, though it wasn't what he wanted to achieve, as his first DJ Residency was in a cafe of a Cinema - as weird as that may sound..! It was the first time he had the opportunity to even touch DJ Decks and again, he had absolutely no problem, as if he had already known and handled them for years..
After doing that for a whole winter, he had enough of the fact that he wanted more than that and had more than that to offer and was seeking that chance.. After a year, he got the chance to start opening Clubs for local Resident DJs, though of course being their "little helper" & not really playing what he wanted, to the people he wanted, but, he had other plans.. After seeing that people were way too hooked on Commercial music and brainwashed by it all, he started to Remix EVERY single hit that would come out, into his own style, to make his style known - the reactions were amazing - he started to get known and thus "Robbie V" was born - fusing everything with House music..
He did that up to the age of 19, where, after being chosen to warm-up for Tiesto's concert, in Rhodes-Greece, he was 100% confident in himself - in his sound, from the crowd of 2.500 people, who were raving to his tunes, even though he was just warming-up.. Afterwards, he decided to get serious with exactly what he loved.. Trance and Rock.. He switched off "Robbie V" and turned on the serious 'Robert Vadney' .. He wrote one Trance tune after the other, got noticed and signed by some Record Labels and started to make a good-known name for himself.. But before being noticed by those Record Labels, he had taken place in various Remix competitions which he ironically did not win and had sent Demos to various people who just ignored him.. Of course the Record Labels who signed his work were out of Greece, seeing as he was never "good enough" to have the support of Greece, or even the island he basically grew up on.. Though, that was not really an issue, since he already had gained fans in other parts of the world and had work of his already reviewed numerous times in worldwide DJ and Club magazine 'Mixmag' .. He was also noticed by various Radio Stations, first being the ODU, in Chicago-USA, where Vadney's first residency took place, hosting his monthly show 'The Flight' - featuring ONLY his work and remixes..
After he gave what he had to give to Trance, he started to explore his Rock side of things and thus "Disordered Indoors" was born.. His Rock sound again, just like his Club sound, was so fresh and different and his Lyrics.. Let's just say.. Not for the simple-minded.. That also made him fuse Rock with Club music, which came out totally fresh, as he was combining the elements which, for some reason, everyone else was missing..
In the meantime, he decided to go to an Audio Technology school, to further his musical education, where he studied Music Technology, Film Scoring and Sound Designing, for three years & discovered that Film Scoring, writing Soundtracks and Sound Designing were also passions of his and got involved in that field aswell..
Just before Easter of 2007, he was picked up by Oakenfold who had Vadney do some Remixes for him - the first one being 'P.Oakenfold - Not Over' which was released on his 'Paul Oakenfold Greatest Hits & Remixes' , then 'Clubbers Guide: Summer 2008' , 'Creamfields 10th Anniversary', 'Ibiza Annual 2008' and more and was supported by almost every DJ in the world and featured on Armin Van Buuren's radio show 'ASOT' .. R. Vadney and P.Oakenfold met up in Ibiza, on the summer of 2007, discussed business and Vadney got onboard Oakenfold's Record Label 'Perfecto' and would be part of Oakenfold's UK Tour - soon after, Vadney wrote the Anthem track 'Perfecto' for Oakenfold's record label 'Perfecto Records' and later on released his Album 'Halloween Anthems' there aswell, through which he presented his new 'Gothic Trance' and was given the title "King of Gothic Trance" by Oakenfold and Vadney fans..
On October 5th and 6th of 2007, the UK finally got a chance to sample what the most privileged within the Dance fraternity and legions of fans already knew. Robert Vadney blew audiences away and left no one in doubt of his credentials as one of the most exciting prospects in Dance music..
Though having released numerous tracks under various guises with many independent labels, some which have gone on to become underground cult classics (check Discography), it's his recent work - Rock infused Dance with a tinge of Goth, Electro and Techno - that has attracted the attention of the Dance world with esteemed and regular reviews in Mixmag, and Club and Radio support by luminaries such as Dj Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, Paul Van Dyk, Above & Beyond, M.Schultz, Aly & Fila, Suzy Solar, Nat Monday, Adam White, the legendary Paul Oakenfold and many more..
Fast forward to the last year, Robert is a rising star..
What's next for Robert? Doing what he does best and only becoming better by the minute..
