Mike Saint Jules Biography

Born on August 12th, 1983, it was Mike's destiny to be a part of the musical enviorment. Mike has always been listening to music ever since he was but an infant. His father had (and still has) a record collection before he was even born. Gradually listening to the old classics like The Commodores, Gladys Knight & The Pips, Santana, Patti LaBelle etc.

Mike slowly began to learn the dancing element of music. Being in the Haitian culture he grew up in, the music played under this culture (Kompa) is always dance music orientated. Not the same genre of Dance mostly known throughout the world, but it's a dance style most commonly known and well respected in the Haitian community. Mike enjoys most subgenres of Jazz and the genre of Soulful House, but to him, these are genres he can only listen to and not do anything else with it.

In his Sophmore year in High School (2000), Mike went to his first High School dance. The music was of all sorts, but the one that caught his ear was the Dance and Techno music that was being played. It was something that he liked to dance to and never stop until that last Record was played. It wasn't much of anything to Mike until a warm, sunny day that arrived in 2002. It was then that Mike would finally see the music he has been searching for. Mike was just eating his normal lunch in front of the kitchen TV. Tuning through channels, he finally ended up to MTV. The show MTV's "True Life: I'm A Clubber" was on. This was probably the best thing that has ever happened to him. For the first time he saw a man who was named "Tiesto" playing one of the most populr tracks at the time,"Flight 643." Even though Tiesto was shown on TV for a few seconds, Mike's world went upside down. He began to find out information on Tiesto and his productions via online.

In early 2003, A Friend on AIM messaged Mike about the show called "A State of Trance." Mike wasn't too sure of what it was and who was hosting the show, but quickly learned that this show was the guide to understanding what new tracks were on the way of being released. He also knew this was the way to keep up to date with new dance music. He quickly began to follow Armin van Buuren's show every week and has not missed an episode since Episode 89.

Early in 2004, Mike had the oppourtunity to see Armin van Buuren & DJ Remy @ Roxy, NYC. Unfortunately, his friend did not want to stay long because the music was not his taste. Mike was dissatisfied by his friend and left along with him.

In Febuary of 2004, Mike was dertermined to come back to New York City. He went to his first "true" Clubbing event @ the Roxy. It was none other than Paul van Dyk that made Mike feel that this was the music that would stay with him for the rest of his life. "It was the best feeling in the world. To dance like that along with the crowd, there's nothing like it." Mike seriously felt that this music is what he would listen to and nothing else.

Later on, he spoke with a friend online and discovered he had DJ equipment. Mike could appreciate that his friend had the money to be able to purchase DJ equipment and having the ablility to mix dance music in the curtoesy of his own home. Mike had to get equipment of his own. "I felt like it was time to stop listening to music and get involved in it and with it." Mike began to purchase Turntables.Playing styles from Trance to Progressive then eventually on to House & Techno,

In 2008, Mike released his first solo production called, "Sunlit Clouds" under Ferry Corsten's label Flashover Recordings (Levare). Since then, in 2009, Mike has remixed artists such as Ronski Speed, Rapid Eye, Filo & Peri, & Noel Sanger to a name a few. He has also worked on a number of collaborations with his good friend, Breakfast and other artists. Mike hopes to continue on in 2009, focusing on slowly bringing out solid, fresh original productions and amazing remixes out for the masses.

Mike has been told by a friend that to be able to work hard and be successful at something is knowing three things: "Blood. Sweat. Tears." To this day, Mike has used those three words and used them as motivation to become a better DJ. Mike wants to show the world that people like himself can play Trance too.

Mike Saint Jules says: "The Carl Cox of Trance? I'm working on it ;-)"
